WHAT IS TELEMEDICINE?

Telemedicine uses the advances in smartphone and video conferencing technology to connect you to your health care providers who are not located near you, meaning you don't have to travel to get the care you need.

You will be able to see, hear and talk to a doctor or other health care professionals at their clinic through video-conferencing, allowing you to be at your home, or another remote location. 

Just like with any face-to-face appointment, you can have a family member, care provider, or friend sit with you during the telemedicine session if you so wish.

HOW DOES A TELEMEDICINE APPOINTMENT WORK?

A telemedicine appointment is just like a regular appointment. The Frontline Doctor telemedicine portal allows you to register yourself with Lifeline Urgent Care, select the doctor on the panel of doctors with Lifeline Urgent Care, select the desired date and time that is convenient for you and your doctor, and pay for the visit. You can also state the reason for the consultation and enter the name of the pharmacy for filling any prescription medications. You will also be asked to accept the telemedicine informed consent form to complete the registration.

HOW TO PAY FOR THE VISIT?

The portal allows self-pay which you can pay with your credit or debit card.  The portal also accepts your medical insurance to pay for the telemedicine visit.  If you use medical insurance as the payment option, you will be asked to upload a picture of your insurance card and proof of identity. Lifeline Urgent Care staff will validate your insurance and call you to collect your copay and/or deductible to complete the registration.  

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER REGISTRATION IS COMPLETE?

Once the registration is complete, you will receive a text message on your smartphone with a link to access the telemedicine session at the date and time of your appointment. If you are using the smartphone for the first time to have a telemedicine session using the Frontline Doctor, you will be asked to download and install an application on your smartphone.  Frontline Doctor Application is available for the IOS (Apple) and Android Platforms. Front Line Doctor portal can also be used from your desktop computer using your browser.  Your desktop computer

should have a working camera and sound enabled to have the interactive session with the doctor. If you chose this option, it is not necessary to install the Frontline Doctor Application on your smartphone. However, installing the smartphone application is the preferred solution. 

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE TELEMEDICINE SESSION?

These appointments are also called virtual visits. You can use your desktop or tablet computer or your smartphone where you will be able to see yourself and your health care provider on the screen once your session begins. To access the session, you will be asked to enter the OTP (one time password) that will be sent to your smartphone using SMS. This is to ensure that your health information is safe, and your privacy is ensured. Your doctor will ask you questions and work with you to develop a plan of care, providing the same quality of care you would get in a face-to-face visit. A chat window is available at the bottom of the application so that you can type in responses to questions from the Doctor. This is particularly useful if you need to communicate the name of a prescription medication to the doctor or upload a picture for the doctor to see during the consult.  

HOW DOES TELEMEDICINE BENEFIT YOU?

Telemedicine is a valuable and unique service to get you the care you need, no matter where you live. If you are unable to travel to Lifeline Urgent Care for in-office care, Frontline Doctor portal provides you the ability to quickly and efficiently get the care you need, when you need it, in a cost effective manner. Virtual visits help lower patient and provider risk of infectious diseases, like COVID-19.

IS TELEMEDICINE PRIVATE?

Just like a regular doctor’s appointment, your telemedicine visit will be private and confidential. What you say during your visit can only be seen and heard by you and your Doctor. 

The Frontline Doctor Telemedicine Application is HIPAA Compliant and several controls exist to protect the privacy of your health information. 

IS THERE A COST FOR A TELEMEDICINE APPOINTMENT?

You will be billed for your telemedicine appointment the same as if you were seeing your Doctor in person.

Many insurance companies cover telemedicine services. To find out if your insurance company will cover these services, please contact them directly or speak to your health care team. Medicare has made substantial progress towards enhanced telehealth reimbursement.
